A little bit of Whiskey,
The grill was often the perfect place for Damon to go out and 'relax'. It was his place to get a drink, alcoholic and blood, and perhaps pick up someone to entertain himself with for the night. Times however were quickly changing, he was changing and no matter how long he sat there along with his glass of bourbon in hand he just couldn't get himself to feel the same as he once did in this place. With a sigh he brought his glass to his lips and took a long sip as he tried to drown out the annoying laughter of the high schoolers behind him. Had there always been annoying kids in here? Or were his senses just now running on high alert? Not even the drink in his hand could help shake the thoughts of him running across the room and scaring the living daylights out of them all from running across his mind. He doubted doing that would please Elena and her little gang though but did he really care?
Damon downed his third bourbon and quickly placed his glass back down onto the bar to order another one. Today he decided he would have a day to himself, casting out all thoughts of Stefan or Elena. As hard as that was, and the easiest way to forget was to drown his miseries with a bottle of bourbon. He would have gladly stayed at the boarding house but seeing as he'd already drunken all of his supplies it left him with no other choice. As his fourth glass appeared in front of him he was quick to take it in his hand, swirling the liquid around the bottom of the glass. Of course the grill was the first place that sprung to mind when he thought about drinks. It was right in the center of town and if he was lucky enough everyone in there knew to leave him alone when he got to drinking so early in the afternoon. It was times like these though that he missed his old friend Alaric, at least when he was here he had someone to moan to even if he didn't always agree. At least with him the arguments were mainly entertaining, he could always count on him to take the abuse Damon dished out about others, even dishing some back at times. It was almost too tempting to call him and get him to come drink with him.
With a sigh he brought the glass to his lips and caught sight of a young girl storming out of the grill. He knew that little girl and as if right on cue he caught sight of Katie making a beeline for the bar. With a smirk plastered on his face he got to his feet and walked around the bar to take the seat beside her. "Trouble in paradise?" He asked ordering them both a round of drinks. "Why don't you not tell me about it over a round of drinks?" He said his eyes lighting up at the thought of finally having someone to take his mind off things. If there was ever a good way to forget your own troubles it was seeing someone else's.
