Katie smiled as she placed the flowers down at the gravestone that read her gran's name. She placed a hand on the stone and stood, "She's almost there... I feel your pain for when you had to guide me. Just send me the strength.” She whispered and stood. Katie and Mac had had to have the witch chat and now the young girl was processing and trying to work it out for herself a little. There was an incident at school involving a lightbulb… She had to tell her niece what, who, she really was and now? Now it was time to start preparing for the memories spell and the whole past life thing. Katie groaned, another reason for coming to the cemetery. She had to get supplies, supplies that she wouldn’t stock at the store. luckily though they lived in an area that past generations of the Daren's had planted certain plants which grew there still.
The witch headed away from her gran’s gravestone and towards the woodland older part of the Mystic Falls cemetery. She knew that this was one of very few places where the herbs and flowers she needed for her spell. The Daren Memory spell was one of the oldest spells in the Daren grimoire. She had to find some really random ingredients though. Katie wouldn’t be able to do the spell until after her brother came home. She had to order one thing sent over from Scotland so it would take a while to get to Mystic Falls and Josh had the protection amulet that they needed too. She hadn't preformed the spell before as herself, but Katie's past life's all had. Heck Clara was the one who created the spell, Katie often did wonder what had made the witch's mind up to actually do it considering it could have backfired terribly. Sadly Clara's memories had large holes in it, like the witch, even now, was withholding information from her descendants. Katie could feel it, like there was something about their past she should know, and didn't. It was annoying... but Katie had to just live with it.
Katie pushed her hair out of her face as she knelt down at the flowers. She picked the ones she needed and put them into the small containers she’d brought with her. Katie frowned hearing a twig snap behind her, a noise in a creepy part of the cemetery, great, if Katie wasn’t already living in a horror movie, she was now bag smack in the middle of one. She stood straight and spun round, she wasn’t prepared for who was behind her. With a gasp Katie put her herbs and flowers into her bag and walked over to the young witch who hadn't seen her clearly. "MacKenzie Daren!" Katie fumed and grabbed Faye's arm, "What the hell are you doing here young girl? I asked you to stay at home whilst we go over your powers! God Mac, I know this is difficult, but I said I'd only be an hour." She sighed assuming the girl who looked like MacKenzie was in fact her niece. "What are you wearing? Where you sneaking off to the fancy dress party in the forest tonight!? I said you couldn't go!" She said trying to keep her voice low. Katie then realised Mac looked scared and confused, "Mac, what's wrong?" She asked now worried someone or something had attacked her.

Centuries had past since Faye last walked the earth. Faye awoke gasping for breath screaming a spell to try and save herself as the darkness consumed her. Burning her skin as it left nothing in its wake as it swept over her. She awoke where there was no air, dark and the smell of earth surrounding her. Panicked she lashed out with her magic the lid off her coffin and creating a way to the surface. She clawed her way to the ground breathing some fresh air into her lungs as she collapsed on the ground. She looked around her, her eyes squinting at the headstone where she had just crawled from the grave. Sure enough it was her name. Buried next to her sister, Freya. Her father & her aunt.
Shaken she got to her feet and started to walk and try and figure out what was going on. How was she here? The last thing she remembered was casting a spell exactly here, to try and bring her sister back from the dead. Though her mother, the evil vindictive witch that she was, attacked her during the spell. Darkness sweeping over her interrupting her unfinished spell. Then it was simply darkness until now.
Though it still confused her as to why she was here. Surely death would of been the end of things as she knew that her spell hadn't worked. Either way the point was to figure out how and why she was here. She stepped away from her families graves and moved through the rows and rows of grave stones. She stepped from the shadow of the tree's and into the sunlight her eyes squinting her vision blurry and unfocused.
Regardless she carried on moving, weakly, though moving nonetheless towards to what she hoped was the exit. She picked up her skirt from the floor so she didn't trip and paused only when she heard someone shout her family name. Though it most certainly wasn't her first name that this other woman shouted that seemed to bounce around in her head making her head hurt to the harsh noise after centuries of silence.
She looked up at the woman stunned when she grabbed her arm as Faye intended to simply ignore the woman. Though what shocked her more was who this woman looked like. She squinted a little trying to focus her hazel eyes, "Clara..." She rasped out, her throat raw as she hasn't spoke in a long time either.
She looked at the girl gone out. Party? Fancy dress? This was how everyone dressed... it was considered the highest fashion? Or it had been... how long had Faye been gone? She stepped back away from who she believed was her aunt pulling her arm from her grasp, "I'm so confused. Auntie Clara you're supposed to be dead...I went to your funeral." She spoke aloud almost to herself as if trying to figure out the time, "I thought I was too. I don't understand what's happening..." Faye almost cried becoming slowly overwhelmed.

Katie didn’t hear the first Clara, she was too in shock that MacKenzie had ignored her request so obviously. The dynamic between aunt and niece had been so good from the moment that Mac had come to stay with Katie. They had been two peas in a pod, they were a like and obviously liked each other as friends as well as guardian/guardee relationship. Katie never tried to be Mac’s parent, she wasn’t her parent, she was an aunt and a damned good one at that. Katie and Mac got along, they’d laughed and cried, and they moved and dealt with more than most ever would need to even think about. She didn’t acknowledge the word ‘Clara’ however she did notice that ‘Mac’ looked scared of her almost. Like she’d been through hell and back.
Katie frowned as Faye pulled her arm back, the grasp was gone and even before hearing the words coming out of Faye’s mouth Katie noticed some differences in ‘MacKenzie’. She saw the fear in the girl’s eyes, the not knowing and something else… the power - Mac didn’t have that power, not that much yet anyway… It was weird once her powers came through in the next few weeks then yes the girl currently standing in ye old dress could be her Mackenzie, but this wasn’t. This girl wasn’t the confident young woman she had left trying to move a candlestick off the fireplace or lit it with her mind. She was older, more in tune. That’s when the girl’s words sunk in, “Aun-Auntie Clara?” Katie muttered and looked ‘MacKenzie’ up and down, “I haven’t - I’m not…” Katie paused and looked over to the cemetery, this girl hadn’t come from the house, she’d came from the cemetery. More specifically, Faye Daren’s grave. “Ohh crap.” The witch muttered to herself and stood back. This was bad, “Don’t freak out. I’m not Clara Daren, I’m Katie. Katie Daren.” She closed her eyes and pinched her nose as she knew once Clara did if ever Faye would push her in a stubborn way as teenagers usually did. “I’m Clara’s new life… or however you’d explain it. I’m the new Clara.” She said simply and looked at her clothes compared to Faye’s.
How do you break it to someone it was 400 odd years later? Katie looked at her. “Faye I’m guessing? Faye it’s 2011. As in the year 2011. I cast a spell and I think I must have crossed another spell or something… I don’t know but you were dead and my niece, MacKenzie Daren, who I thought you were… well.” Katie paused, “She’s you. She’s your recycled soul. However I don’t know how it’s possible that you are here and so is she.” Katie frowned. It didn’t make any sense. The way the Daren’s worked was that the daughter took on the memories from their former life… basically their soul almost. But the Daren witch had to be dead for that to happen and well - here was Faye Daren, daughter of Hugh, niece of Clara Daren. Katie knew that it was her spell to bring Stefan back, it was a spell that was powerful and she tapped into the Daren line magic for it so this must be the blow back from it.

Faye rubbed her own eyes since they were still adjusting to the sunlight. It was hard to focus on her Auntie before her, just purely because the light around her hurt her eyes. Though the more this woman before her that resembled her Auntie so well, the more Faye realised that it wasn't quite her. After all she had attended her Aunt's funeral. Though she knew exactly how it was possible. Clara had told her of the spell she had wrought, that somewhere down the line souls would be recycled. They would share the same face, and use the memories of the past life's to help them in the next. It went for all Daren witches, including Faye and her sister Freya. That memory slowly came back to Faye, knowing then it gave her a peace of mind that Freya would live again, albiet only in memory.
Though she seemed to put the pieces together easily enough and even knew her name. Probably thanks to the memories of Clara. Or even if she didn't have Clara as a past life, Faye hoped all Daren witches knew the history. She nodded in agreement of that was her name then her hazel eyes filled with shock when she learned what year it was. 2011? Four hundred years, if not more. Not that she should be surprised she hadn't had the time to complete her spell, before her mother attacked her with dark magic. She pushed those dark thoughts away.
She looked at Katie curiously when she wondered how on earth Faye could be here, when technically her soul should of been recycled. She narrowed her eyes at her a little. If she had Clara for a past life, Katie should know all about the twins. Though she wouldn't know of the spell that Faye tried to bring into effect as Clara died before Faye tried to cast it, "If you have Clara for a past life then you should know.." Faye wondered curiously. Two souls couldn't exist at the same time. So If Mackenzie was Faye then Faye couldn't be standing here.
Though the look of utter confusion on Katie's face almost made Faye angry. Why couldn't she figure this out. If she had Clara for a past life then she should know all about Freya, how she died and how torn apart Faye had been. What her mother had done to both of her daughters. Anger sparked in her, "Why can't you remember? What did she do?" She snapped. Her sister had meant everything to Faye. The only way that she could possibly forget is if Clara had done something all those years ago. If so that made her angry. Maybe in hopes that Freya being erased would stop her from being reincarnated.
Faye had spent most of her life devoted to her sister, though when you were a twin you shared a bond that no other family member could share. When Freya died that day, it was like a part of Faye had as well. No one else understood that devotion and as far as her devotion went, it made her almost dangerous. Faye narrowed her eyes and her hand snaked out rested on the side of her reincarnated Aunt's forehead. Right now she wasn't powerful enough to break Clara's spell, if she ever could at all. Though she could share her memories with her, to prove that she wasn't the only daughter that Hugh Daren had. What happened to Freya, then the life Faye lived after right up to her death being consumed by darkness.

When Faye narrowed her eyes at Katie, the witch got the sense she almost didn’t believe her. Obviously the resemblance between Clara and Katie was unmistakable. They practically were the same person, there was no denying it. However Clara had been a clever witch. She knew that some secrets should stay in the past, however now those secrets needed to be uncovered, and fast. “I don’t! I am her, but her memories… they aren’t like the others. They are mixed up, some are hidden, clouded from my mind. I know they are there… it’s just getting to them. Trust me it’s very frustrating.” Katie told her and moved a little close to the girl in a friendlier way. “She was more powerful than I realised. I’m the first witch of our line ever to receive her memories. Even the Daren’s I have after her and before myself didn’t have her memories.” She explained slowly, not wanting to frustrate the girl any more than she was already.
“Maybe she spelled the memories, altered what I would see? That’s why I’m the first to get her memories, before of Mac, because of you.” Katie offered unsure what to do, she did know that she had to get Faye to her house though, she’d be safer there than out here. The world had changed a lot, especially to a 460 year old witch. “I’m not sure how to remember, I have been working on Clara’s memories though, trying to chip a the walls she’s placed in my mind.” Katie explained knowing that, luckily, Faye was a Daren so that meant she didn’t need to explain it in more detail. All Daren’s knew the truth and understood the Daren line and the way of their line.
When Faye touched Katie’s cheek the witch gasped and was flood with memories. She suddenly was in Clara Daren’s body, watching her brother explain about his twins - his twin girls. Two children, Faye and another, Freya. She watched as the story unfolded and then Faye arrived at Clara’s door, alone and afraid with no twin sister. The ying to her yang was gone and she was feeling lost. Before it could move forward, Katie jerked away from Faye with some force - so much so she stumbled back and fell onto the ground. “What the hell!” She fumed and shook her head. “You don’t just unlock someone’s memories! Jesus Faye!” Katie frowned and scrambled to stand up. Katie felt the side of her head as she gained her balance again. "My head! I need an aspirin." She muttered as her head throbbed.
When the initial shock wore off, Katie looked at Faye. “I’m sorry about your sister. I think that Clara somehow kept some of her memories from me. I’ve been trying to unlock some and I think…” Katie paused, “It doesn’t matter. Come back to the house, we’ll work this out Faye.” She told her and moved forward to comfort the girl. After all Faye’s hurt looked like Mac’s hurt, not only that the Clara in her yearned to comfort Faye. She had to get her home and out of the public eye, just incase. “A lot has changed since you died. Come on, my car is this way.” She told her and pointed towards the exit with full realisation that Faye had no clue what a car was. “The way I see it now, Mac must be Freya’s line, not yours. You’re memories after all are still with you.” She thought aloud and felt more determined than ever to unlock the other hidden memories of Clara Daren.

| Faye felt like screaming. She didn't see the reason for her sister to be forgotten. What had Freya ever done wrong in her life? If anything it was Faye that had deserved to be forgotten. Freya may have handled her death much better than Faye had handled it. Faye being so devastated had turned to dark magic to see if that was the answer. Witches though they were powerful enough to meddle with life and death, weren't supposed to. It wasn't natural to bring someone back from the dead. Though she had certainly tried, her aunt had been the one to bring her back to who she was though it hadn't quelled the need to have her sister in her life.
After she broke the connection with her aunt's present life Katie, Katie initially stepped back Faye having forcefully breaking the walls that Clara had erected on her memories. All of them being of Freya had been walled away. She was shaking her emotions building and overflowed the dam. Her sister had the tendency to to that to her, "Why would she do that to her?! There was no need for her to be forgotten!" Faye cried ignoring Katie's shouts of her own. Faye was shaking with sadness and anger all directed to the one person who she had thought had been on her side. When in actual fact betrayed the memory of the one person that mattered to Faye most.
Looking at Katie was a little difficult right now since she resembled her aunt so well. Though different in many ways. Though her features the same none the less. She let out a shaky breath forcing her self to calm down closing her eyes and trying to find peace of mind, "I'm ok.." She sighed a little, "I apologise." Faye murmured after she had forced down the walls in her mind. Must of hurt, though when it came to her sister, Faye hadn't ever thought clearly. Hell all those years ago she would of ran into the flames to try and save her. She would have and her father knew it which is why he literally had to hold her back while Faye felt her sister burn.
At every point she was reminded almost constantly how alone she felt without her sister. One who wasn't a twin wouldn't understand the loss the remaining twin felt. Since they were twins they had shared a deep bond and since they were both witches, that bond was amplified. You knew the other as well as you knew yourself, they were a part of you. Without the other half, you were bound to feel lost.
She peered at Katie entirely confused, "Your what?" Faye asked innocently. Though never the less she followed her. At the moment, she had nothing else left to do except follow her. She was her best chance at finding out exactly what happened. She followed Katie from the cemetery out onto the main street and she jumped at the different sounds. Other people looked at her strangely and she suddenly felt very self conscious.
Faye smiled a little when Katie put the pieces together that her niece must be from her sisters line, "I take it as we haven't had many life's then.." Faye asked curiously as she followed Katie to what she assumed was her 'car.' She knew how the line was meant to work. Though Faye's spell mixed with her mothers darkness probably ruined how the line of the children born to the men of the family was supposed to work. In her grief she had successfully destroyed her descendants line.

As Faye stepped away from her Katie started to feel herself again, however the headache throbbed still as the walls that Clara had built around her memories lay in tatters in the witch’s mind. Freya was Faye’s twin, Mac’s true past life, not Faye as first believed. However all of this had opened something else within Katie’s mind - if Faye and Freya were twins… then Mac… the witch frowned as she processed all her thoughts, luckily they had all of the paperwork and such that Nikki kept at the house regarding MacKenzie’s birth and such. As the throbbing lessened, Katie heard Faye’s cries. “Faye, I’m sorry, I can’t say why she did that, I can only guess it was to protect us, to protect you and Mac.” She tried and rubbed her head a little.
As Faye attempted to calm herself down, Katie took pity on the girl, couldn’t be easy coming back from the dead and finding out your sister’s presence had been erased from all memory and family journals. However there were journals that Katie hadn’t gotten to yet. When Faye apologised, Katie smiled softly, “It’s ok. It just… hurt. It’s like tearing my mind in two when I get memories in that way. I take a few hours to adjust to knowing what are mine and what someone else’s memories are.” Katie explained. Of course Faye being one of the first wouldn’t know the feeling of having seven other people in your head.
Katie let out a small laugh, “My car… it’s like a cart and horse but mechanical.” She told her and led the girl to the parking lot. This world was going to be a shock to the system, there wasn’t much that was the same. Even witch craft had evolved quite a bit since she was last practicing. When they got out of the cemetery, the noise was sure to hit her, Katie wrapped an arm around Faye in a protective manner as if protecting her from this strange new world she’d woken up in.
“No.” Katie replied to her about Mac, “MacKenzie is the first girl to be born to a Daren male since, well you and your sister. We assumed that in a year when she goes through with the memory ceremony it would be yours… obviously it’ll be Freya’s.” she said and took out her keys to open the car. Katie got the car door for Faye, “Don’t be afraid.” She assured her and closed the door before running to the other side and getting in. “I’m the first Daren to get Clara’s memories. I assume it’s because my generation are the recycled first generation.” She told her. Before starting the car Katie took out her cell and text MacKenzie getting her out the house for a bit, she didn’t want the two girls meeting up just yet. “MacKenzie has just found out she’s a witch.” Katie told Faye and looked at her, “Ohh this is a phone… you know what, that’s next week’s problem. Let’s get you to the house, get you washed, fed and dressed and we’ll go from there.” She said and started the car after fastening Faye’s seat belt.

| It took a while for her to calm down. When it came to her sister, Faye was the last person to think clearly. Twins shared a bond that went beyond anything. Deeper than what any one person could fathom. Truly it felt like part of her had been cut off, missing something important. Faye still needed to know what happened after she had cast the spell that she did. Her mother didn't want any more twins born to the Daren line, Faye wanted them to reincarnate just like Clara's line would. Though obviously her spell had been interrupted and destroyed by her mother so she wasn't sure what had been the outcome. That can come at a later time, when they were ready to hear it. She apologised for how she had unlocked Katie's memories of her aunt. Mainly it was to see what Clara had done to Freya's memories. Though now Katie should be able to remember it all in time, "I wouldn't know. Though I was there when Clara made the memory ritual." Faye told her. She had nothing to do with it, though she had seen it's creation.
She looked around her wrapping her arms around her as if she were cold. She asked innocently what Katie was going on about. She followed her anyway, since she didn't have any alternative. Katie explained what a car and Faye nodded as if she understood a little. Though as they left the cemetery the noise that filled her ears. A metallic grinding, children shouting and running about. She cringed a little and felt herself moved along by Katie when she wrapped an arm around her shoulders so she didn't have time to get overwhelmed by the different noises.
Katie opened the car door placing her inside and Faye sat looking around her keeping her hands firmly on her lap. Confusion filled her eyes as Katie got in the other side and to distract herself she asked about their reincarnated life's. She was merely curious and Katie confirmed her suspicions, "Makes sense I guess." She agreed half heartedly. She knew she had some explaining to do, though she was thankful she wasn't being forced to explain yet.
She looked at Katie when she pulled something from her pocket and began tapping away. Katie began to explain and Faye merely gave her a confused look. Though she didn't finish explaining and Faye smiled graciously. At the minute she couldn't process this much, "Thank you.." Faye told her when she said that they would go home and get her cleaned up.
Katie put some strange strap across her and she looked at it curiously, "What do I need this for?" Faye asked again. Though she soon figured it out when the 'car' moved, how Faye couldn't see. Though she took this time to watch the town pass her by through the windows of the car. The town unrecognisable to her such as it was.
